Put safety first!
Armoured car employees are risking their lives by just going to work. With scant regulations and standards, workers in the sector have little separating themselves from danger.
Since 2000, there have been more than 70 attacks on armoured cars in Canada, resulting in four fatalities and two serious injuries.
Unifor, representing 2,000 armoured car workers, is pushing federal lawmakers to develop a comprehensive regulatory framework to enhance safety and prevent crime by establishing minimum standards in employee training, vehicle specifications, staffing levels and safety equipment requirements.
