Tell Premier Wynne and Minister Flynn of Ontario to Stand on the Side of Canada's Workers!

In partnership with the Toronto and York Region Labour Council, Canada's largest Labour Council, the voice of workers in Toronto and York Region.

Over 120 United Steelworkers in Toronto were forced on strike over 20 months ago because they would not accept a demand by Crown Holdings, one of the largest can manufacturers in the world, that new workers be paid up to 42% less for doing the same job.

Just a few months before being pushed out on the street, the company doubled its profits and gave these workers an award for having the best plant in North America. Now Crown has said that even if the workers all take wage cuts of up to 33%, most of them won’t even get our jobs back.

The outcome of this strike has wide implications for all of Canada. If Crown prevails, it means that workers can lose their jobs for exercising their right to strike. One can only imagine what will happen if other employers in Canada begin this practice of permanent replacement.

Send a letter to Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne and Labour Minister Kevin Flynn asking them to take further action on the side of workers and stop a new era of union busting in Canada from emerging.
