Lesotho: Solidarity with workers at Quantum Apparel

In partnership with the United Textile Employees Union (UNITE).

Under the pretext of government tariffs, Quantum Apparel factory in Lesotho has undertaken a vicious union-busting campaign, targeting and firing hundreds of recently unionized workers. 700 garment workers at Quantum Apparel recently organized a union in one of Africa’s most impoverished countries, but Quantum Apparel has refused to negotiate a decent CBA and instead responded with mass layoffs particularly targeting union activists and members.

Quantum sells to major brands including Woolworth’s and Walmart and continues to refuse productive dialogue with the union.

This struggle comes in the context of a broader fight by workers in Lesotho to demand representation in discussions around trade agreements with the United States and the potentially devastating effects of tariffs on workers.
