Georgia: New union of taxi drivers needs our solidarity

Taxi drivers in Georgia have been working for years under difficult and often unfair conditions, leading to growing dissatisfaction and protest across the sector. In response, drivers have established the Taxi Drivers' Primary Trade Union, affiliated with the Professional Union of Private Sector Employees of Georgia, to collectively defend their labour rights and improve working conditions. The campaign aims to initiate a constructive mediation process with platform companies to address key demands, including fair commission rates, a minimum tariff, health insurance, compensation for time spent in traffic, fair platform policies, and protection from unjust deactivation. It also calls for the involvement of government institutions to ensure transparency, accountability, and long-term enforcement of agreed reforms.
