| In partnership with IndustriALL, a global union which represents 50 million workers in 130 countries in the mining, energy and manufacturing sectors, and TEKSIF - the Textile, Knitting, Clothing, and Leather Industry Workers' Union of Turkey. |
In January this year, members of Turkish textile union Teksif were dismissed after the union secured a legal majority at Digel, a German menswear company. Workers have been picketing against the union busting, calling on the employer to engage in social dialogue with Teksif, the rightful union. In August, Teksif shared detailed testimonies and evidence of what it says are systematic patterns of harassment, discrimination and abuse at Digel Textile. The findings, based on dozens of testimonies from workers, most of them women, are described by Teksif as revealing a disturbing picture of life inside the factory. The union’s newly released report details claims of mobbing, psychological violence, sexual harassment, unlawful dismissals, and gender-based discrimination that it says have intensified since workers unionized in January 2025.
